The Lite Alloy Steel Locking D is without question the most popular carabiner we manufacture. In fact, you will have to look long and hard to find a lighter-weight steel carabiner that meets the rigorous NFPA “G” ratings.

We aptly describe the Lite Alloy as a “hybrid” because it incorporates a stainless steel gate and locking sleeve. This gives it superb action, greater strength, and exceptional reliability. Furthermore, the sleeve locks on the gate, not the body of the carabiner, which eliminates problems of the knob binding on the frame once you have loaded the carabiner.

We meticulously hand-finish all the components in this carabiner after machining. This results in the smooth, free gate action that is a true hallmark of all SMC carabiners. Additionally, we 100% hand-inspect each Lite Alloy carabiner for gate action and other functional characteristics before it leaves our factory.

If you want a carabiner that will outlast all your other gear and perform just as well after 1,000 jobs as it did the first time, you need to accept nothing less than an SMC Lite Alloy. Finally, we offer the carabiner in a Bright or Black zinc-plated finish for tactical operations.
