CMC Kong Back-Up Device

You can use the Back-Up with one hand. This allows technicians to easily switch between “Free Mode” for movement on the rope and “Lock Mode” to fix the device for work positioning. In addition, you can use it as a rope clamp.

The Back-Up bends rope through an actuating cam, which absorbs impact. Consequently, it has less risk of rope damage than a traditional toothed device. We designed it for two-person loads when you use it in a rope access rescue scenario. For compliance with the ANSI 359.15 standard, you must use the Back-Up with its included 12-inch lanyard, a different ANSI Z359.13 certified lanyard, or a direct connection.

Placing the Back-Up over a shoulder assists you in releasing the cam and allowing the device to move freely. Furthermore, the magnet accessory holds the Back-Up in place for smooth travel with the technician. Made in Italy, the high-quality Back-Up reliably arrests falls, slides, or uncontrolled descents on vertical or angled ropes. Finally, we designed it as the ideal companion for the rope access technician.
