SUMMARY:REMS/Remote Rescue Workshop - CMC
DESCRIPTION:About the Class\nClass Flyer \nCMC School’s innovative REMS/Remote Rescue Workshop is an intensive 4-day training that goes beyond the traditional techniques taught in rope operations and technician courses. This comprehensive class introduces students to Rapid Extraction Module Support (REMS) concepts and focuses on scenarios involving challenging and hazardous environments. Students are given hands-on experience with alternative rope rescue tactics and strategies\, and learn to employ lightweight equipment not typically found in a standard rescue cache. Our REMS scenarios are designed to stretch students’ capabilities\, providing them with the skills necessary to navigate demanding situations. This course is also designed to meet the specific requirements and intent of FIRESCOPE ICS 162-4 (2024) and NWCG PMS 552. \nThe demand for this specialized training has increased due to the escalating incidents of wildfires\, requiring a larger number of skilled firefighters on the frontlines. CMC School developed this course based on our instructors’ active involvement in FIRESCOPE\, firsthand experience in REMS field deployments\, and extensive technical expertise in mountain rescue. Our objective is to contribute to the expansion of qualified REMS teams\, ultimately improving the protection and support provided to firefighters. \nThis course is also offered as a custom contract class to accommodate specific curriculum and location needs\, start a quote here. \nSkills Taught\n\nAdvanced evaluation of the forces applied and how to safely operate lightweight systems\nLightweight and limited gear rescue systems\nSub-optimal and austere anchoring evaluation and use\nRisk-based analysis and deployment of single rope rescue\nVertical\, steep-angle\, and low-angle options for patient evacuation\nTeam composition\, coordination\, and leadership in complex rescues with small teams\nRefresher on knot craft\, mechanical advantage\, and simple rescue system\n\nClass includes\n\nCMC School Certificate of Completion\nAccess to CMC library of supporting materials\nCMC Rope Rescue Technician Field Guide\nCMC Patch\n\nEnrollment requirements\nRope Rescue Operations level competence. \nNOTE: Your spot is not guaranteed until the CMC School contacts you to confirm your enrollment.
