We hold the Advanced Skills Rescue Workshop (ASRW) only one time during any given year. It is a seven-day seminar dealing with the remaining “10% Solution.” This rigorous course “for wizards” applies some aspects of the Team Skills Rescue Workshop. Yet it goes well beyond both of these in intensity of rigging and application of physical principles.

Why is this the Tree Rescue Workshop-Firefighter needed? And better yet, WHY NOW?

Trees present difficult rescue solutions as they are a foreign environment to emergency personnel. In a way, they are very much like tower rescue in that they begin at the bottom with the victim or casualty high up in the branches. How can a firefighter gain access from the ground to this elevated location and get the person needing rescue down? Even better than that, how can this be done safely and in a timely fashion? These are the basic components of the Tree Rescue Workshop— Firefighter.

The Mountain Rescue Workshop (MRW) is a minimalist approach to mountain rescue procedures. It teaches the access, stabilization, and extrication of patients involved in mid-face free or aid climbing accidents. Also, it highlights those where the accident site is only accessed from below. There is a heavy emphasis on advanced knotcraft (several boutique bowlines) in this workshop.
